Mobile phones and WiFi radiation health risks

There have been many skeptics since the very initial introduction of wireless service about what the constant exposure to radiation can do to human health and the nature surrounding it.

While the world is bracing for the launch of 5G services the question of the health risks looms large.

The result of the extensive study that was conducted by the National Institutes of Health, US was inconclusive. The 10 year study was conducted using 2G and 3G wireless radiation exposure on animals for 9 hours each day. While it did show the increased risk of mutation leading to the growth of tumors or tissue and DNA damage in a group of rodents, another group did not show any evident health issues related to the exposure.

The International Agency for Research on Cancer has cited exposure to radiation as a potent carcinogen for humans. It means that long term exposure to radiations could result in extensive damage.

But here is something to think about. The studies were conducted on animals that were expo…

Roses Are Red, But Are Violets Really Blue?

Well, maybe not. In today's Tech world, what seems to be may not be.

Phishing, credit card fraud, email scams, all have become very sophisticated for sure.

An example, I just listed my Note 5 on Amazon seller account, within minutes I had a buyer-until I read the response:

Does this sound like something Amazon would write?

Quote: "we hereby inform you that order have been completed for your item and payment have been received from buyer by us on your behalf. An additional 50 for shipping has been added. You can now go ahead and ship item and get back to us with shipping tracking number for shipment verification in other to transfer your payment into your account".

Obviously, these morons were not very good at it. But many are.

Manage Cost Cutting in Your Organization With a Payroll Software

One such way of cost cutting is to automate your payroll and employee attendance management system. A lot of companies, especially small scale business houses have a manually run accounts department. This implies that every task that is executed in this department requires a whole bunch of highly skilled accountants. Further, as a result, the company has to focus a lot of the resource planning and resource estimation for the payroll department.

However consider a different scenario, where the payroll department is automated. Now with this automation, most of the data entries happen on a real-time basis, without much manual intervention. For example, the attendance data gets recorded in the system as soon as the employee punch his card or presents fingerprint on the attendance recording machine. Few more examples like:-

• Automated calculation of TDS
• Audit of the employee earnings and deduction
• Creation of Form 16
• Income tax calculation based on various parameters defined by the Gove…

5 Characteristics to Compare Before Purchasing a Probe Station Unit

The probe station unit has undergone numerous technological advances over the past decade. Researchers now have more options to choose from which is beneficial but can make it difficult to effectively compare unique probe station units prior to purchasing. This tool represents a significant financial investment so it is important to select the best solution for today and tomorrow. Fortunately, focusing on five key characteristics can make the comparison process easier and more accurate.

1. With the growing popularity of cryogenic measurements time-consuming wiring of an on-wafer device is no longer necessary. Today's platforms allow for visualization and electrical interrogation of multiple wafer level devices. Unfortunately, this comes with a trade-off. Optical access to inflexible probing of a device can transfer heat loads from the probe arm to the device being tested. To minimize this effect, it is essential the probe station unit has some type of shield or other technology to …

The Importance of DevOps Certification

The DevOps phenomenon is noticeably dominating the IT horizon. In a rapidly evolving technological world, DevOps is emerging as a classical requisite for almost every Software team. The phrases 'current IT trend' or 'hike in remuneration' seem to be synonymous with the term DevOps Certification. So what really is the significance of this terminology? Is the importance blown out of proportion or is it accurately rated?

The Conception of DevOps
The term DevOps was coined by a Belgian named Patrick Debois. He is also referred to as the Father of DevOps. The conception of this phenomenon was a long drawn process. There were several brainstorming sessions via conferences and talks amongst stalwarts from the industry.

Eventually, a plethora of technological tools such as Agile, Lean, Operations Management, Theory of Constraints and IT service management in congregation gave birth to the philosophy of DevOps. In essence, DevOps upholds two cardinal trends: Agile Operations an…

What Is Cloud Computing and Why You Should Use Cloud Computing

The Basics.

As businesses expand, they begin to experience some really difficult and expensive information technology (IT) challenges. Maintenance of hardware and software facilities can be a pain in the neck with traditional business computing systems. Cloud technologies and services present a smart, user-friendly solution. It's also cheaper than traditional systems and increases the productivity and workflow of the business.

Cloud computing, by definition, is technology that makes use of the internet and servers centralized in remote data centers to store and maintain data and applications. So, Cloud technology makes computing more efficient by centralizing the storage of data, processing, and bandwidth.

Cloud services and products also allow users to make use of applications and software without installing the application on their personal computers or mobile devices. Users can access their personal files and documents by using any computer or device with internet access. The cost…

How Are Big Retailers Supposed To Protect Their Brands When They're Closing 100s Of Stores?

The retail sector just cannot seem to get its act together, they try to make us all loyal customers and then spam our inboxes to hell. They pretend to care, but give us lousy service while in their stores, that is if we can even find someone to help us. They offer discount coupons but we cannot find it when we go to shop, Free Rain Check, they say, well, that's not good enough. Then when they finally do lower some prices on their cheaply made Chinese imports, we find out it's only because they are closing their doors and selling their "loyal customer data" to a competitor without our permission and the process starts all over again - when will these box retailers learn - maybe when they are all gone?

The USA Today had an interesting and scary article addressing the future of brick and mortar retailing titled; "Macy's cutting 6,200 jobs, identifies 68 stores that will be closing," published on January 4, 2017 which stated;

"Retail icon Macy's says…

Troubling Trends in Retailing - 2017 Will See Profits But Also More Bankruptcies In The Sector

Well, the 2016 retail sales results are in, like always there were winners and losers. Many large retailers showed gains in the very low single digits over last year's Christmas shopping season, while Amazon showed decent double-digit gains. Now then, I've witnessed a trend which is a little disconcerting. During my Christmas shopping this year as a consumer I had noted that many online retailers that also had brick-and-mortar stores did not have the items on the website in the inventory in their stores. This upsets customers.

After all if you want it right away, or you kind of like the idea of shopping, or if it is an item you really need to buy in the store due to its fit or size such as clothing, you need to try it on but if you get the story and it is not available, or they don't stock it, for instance I went to sports authority and could not find any of those clip-in bicycles shoes, they don't carry them in the store, but I definitely need to try on the shoes, I d…

Business to Business - Look For the Less Glamorous Accounts

As a former franchisor and service sector operator I have an important piece of advice to discuss with you today. You see, these days I do a bit of consulting and thus, am constantly reading business plans for small business start-ups. One thing I always find is smaller companies always seem to want to immediately go after high-end clients, consumers and customers - and, if they plan on doing business-to-business contracting, the young and often nave entrepreneurs tend to go after big brand name corporate clients. Still, I recommend a different tactic in this realm, let's talk.

Sure, it makes sense to go after the high-end customers and name brands, but do not dismiss the less glamorous businesses to do business with. Have you ever heard the saying; "Sell to the masses and live with the classes?" Makes sense right. In fact, when operating my companies we never forgot this strategy. I find many entrepreneurs want to get their product into Home Depot, Target, Wal-Mart, Sea…

Sales Advice From Pablo Picasso

I read a great quote from Picasso (yes, the famous painter) the other day, and it really resonated with my sales philosophy. Here it is:

"Learn the rules like a pro, so you can break them like an artist."

You're probably wondering what that has to do with sales, and it's simple: Most sales rep's instincts are to adlib when they get an objection or when they get into a sales situation that isn't going their way.

The problem with this is they haven't first learned the rules of proper objection handling - like questioning an objection first, or isolating an objection, etc. - so instead they just wing it. And if you are doing this now, then you know how that turns out.

For years, I've been preaching, teaching, and training sales teams to put in the time and effort to learn the proper sales techniques first, and then after they understand and have mastered the fundamentals, then they can "adapt" them to each particular prospect or situation.

Here is …

The Importance of Changing the Language Around Fingerprinting

Courtroom and law enforcement television have created a public perception that fingerprinting is an infallible science. While the patterns for each human finger are formed in the womb, it is important to be careful about language that implies absolute certainty.

Looking at the Numbers
The FBI has famously estimated that fingerprint identification is 99.8 percent accurate. This level of accuracy is reassuring when you have a murder case or burglary with a short list of known suspects. It's less inspirational when you consider the billions of people currently alive and the computer databases that can search through thousands of arrest records. Our conversations often take fingerprints and snowflakes as scientific examples of uniqueness, and yet even the snowflake clich has its limits. If a researcher catalogues enough snowflake patterns under a microscope, eventually she will find snowflakes that are indistinguishable from that level of magnification. On a practical level, there are …

Top 10 Duties of a CEO (Are You Doing These?)

Nowadays, it's easy to start your business, find resources to help you, attend networking events in all shapes and sizes, and use online tools to market and run your business.

The drawback is that there are a lot of small business owners out there who are really glorified service providers or hobbyists. And they're missing out on running and growing a true business. They need to be CEOs, not worker bees.

How does that land for you? Do you consider yourself a CEO, or does that word seem too big to describe you? Do you run your business consciously and intentionally, or do you let it run you?

A CEO of a business runs the business, whether it's for a company of 1 or 1000. Here are the top 10 duties of a CEO.

1. The CEO knows the Deeper Why. More than likely, she started her a business for a reason... to provide a much-needed service or product and, in her way, to change the world. There is a Deeper Why that drives her, especially since much of running a business can cause someone…

Waste Management Solutions: Five Crafty Ways To Reuse Plastic

Every year there is approximately 333,557 tons of plastic waste tossed into the ocean. Plastic pollution is a toxic hazard that threatens the habitats of ocean and land wildlife. In addition, the mass production of plastic contributes to the dilution of natural resources and increases the burning of fossil fuels.

Waste management companies across the globe are seeing an uptick in plastic pollution-and most are encouraging people to avoid it. Sometimes, plastic is unavoidable-however reusing it can minimize production which is important for the environment. Here's a look at five crafty ways to reuse plastic materials.

1. Refill Plastic Jugs
Milk jugs, plastic orange juice cartons, and gallon water jugs are great for lemonades and punches. Although it's encouraged not to use them for drinking too long, it doesn't mean you have to throw them right in the recycling bin. Fill them with non-consumable items such as glue, dishwashing detergent, or an anti-freeze mix.

2. Make Plast…

Understanding Others' Thought Processes

Chris Argyris has identified seven different subconscious stages in decision making that he calls rungs on The Ladder of Inference.

We can use the Ladder with others, helping them to analyze their thought process at each rung so we both can understand the decisions they have made.

[Note: This is very much like the 5 Whys, which is a quality improvement problem finding technique.

In the 5 Whys you keep asking "why?" until the other person has moved down from the obvious or presenting problem to the root cause of the problem.

The difference between the two techniques is that the "whys?" used in 5 Whys are general, while the "whys?" used with the Ladder of Inference are very specific.]

Let's take the case of a curriculum designer who is confronted with a manager who is insisting on using lecture and PowerPoint.

We'll identify the manager's thought at each rung and then question what motivated that thought.

Rung 7: Action- A manager insists on using lect…

Optimal Contact Center Technology Improves Customer Satisfaction

Customer loyalty is the make-or-break for most businesses. If customers do not keep coming back to you, and are not advocates of your organization, then churn will become increasingly damaging.

How an optimal contact center can increase customer retention? Customer service is the largest single influence on consumer loyalty. Research has shown that 46 per cent of people feel that service is their number one driver for loyalty, compared to only 33 per cent who felt that product quality was key. So if you can achieve both excellent service and product quality, then your business will have high loyalty, and help drive profits up!

Customer Frustration
The research identified that there are three main areas of customer frustration in the contact center: Hold Times, Interactive Voice Response Systems (IVRs) and Call Transfers.

Businesses need to be aware that these areas can cause a great deal of dissatisfaction amongst customers, and ensure they work to avoid it.

1. Hold Times
We all know that a…

Different Types of Sturdy Foundation Bolts

The foundation bolts are made by casting from wrought iron rods or mild steel and are used to fasten the machines to the foundations. The size of the bolt to be used depends upon the bulk of the machinery and the immensity of the power of the machinery while it is in use. The f bolt manufacturers make them strong enough as these provide the resistance and the required support to the structure. It also helps in providing a foundation that is strong enough for the entire structure.

For setting the foundation bolts in correct places, positions are marked. After this, the they are suspended into the holes. Concrete is then filled into the space around the bolts and once the concrete sets, the bolts get secured firmly into the ground. There are several types of bolts made by the foundation bolt manufacturers that are used for various purposes. Let us have a look at them.

The Dramatic Downside of Home Decor Ideas in Movies

Movie sets make all kinds of fantastic home dcor ideas seem possible, but many of these ideas would have major downsides in real life.

Willy Wonka's Chocolate FactoryThe chocolate factory is a big inspiration to kids everywhere. The pre-teen audience salivates at the sight of the chocolate river, teacup flowers, and trees with balloon-like candy fruit. Who wouldn't want a gigantic room where everything is edible? A reasonable adult with foresight-that's who wouldn't want the biohazard of such a playspace. First, there's the impossible task of fending off insects and replacing expired candy trees. Secondly, inviting any guests to enjoy would be as biologically risky as sharing a lollipop with a group of friends. The only adult who would be interested in a room or house of candy is the witch in Hansel and Gretel.

Bad Service Can Ruin Your Restaurant's Reputation

During the holidays I enjoyed the time off with some surf, sea and sand. As like most people on holiday, I love spending time with special people at wonderful restaurants. Most of the restaurants I went to knew what they were doing and their waitrons were on the ball. I commend such good customer service. However, there was this one restaurant that I went to that did not offer such a good customer experience. Bad service can give a restaurant a bad name.

Let me share my experience with you.
My companions and I decided to have breakfast at the beach. This particular restaurant is ideally situated on the beach, just a few metres from the sea so you can imagine the beautiful view we were looking forward to. While waiting in the queue to be seated, we were promptly informed that we needed to wait a bit. Once we were seated it took quite some time for our waitron to welcome us and provide us with the menus. When she did show up she advised that the restaurant is very busy and breakfast will …
