Benefits of Newspaper Advertising

We are living in the world where everything is digital. Conventional channels for promotion are now outdated completely. No, they are not! In fact, even where everything is getting digital, there are some traditional marketing channels that continue to be extremely effective. Among the various print media channels, newspaper is the most circulated and read. There is also no doubt that electronic media channels like TV and radio are also quite effective. However, local newspaper has its own distinct benefits. Here are some of them.

The audience is more proactive
Most of the times the readers are proactive and they search for the ads and deals. Of course there is no guarantee that if your ad is in the newspaper the readers will definitely see it. However, if the reader is looking for something that you sell, it is quite likely that your ad will be able to attract user attention. What's even better is that since they themselves have searched your ad they will take more time reading and understanding it.

It is less intrusive
When your favourite TV show is interrupted at the most crucial time for the commercial, it results in bad experience. The 'to your face' advertising methods, such as TV ads and pop-ups on the website are considered to be intrusive. They often don't go down very well with the users. But with the newspapers, the ads are usually placed along with the relevant section making them less intrusive. For instance, if you want to buy sports goods you could find the sports ad in the sports section.

Better reputation building
There are several newspapers circulated daily. However, people usually stick to the newspaper of their choice. Usually it is the emotional aspect of it that makes a particular newspaper more trustworthy to them. This helps a better overall impression. People who trust a particular newspaper may also end up trusting the ads in it. This is more psychological than anything else. So, it gives you the opportunity to build better brand reputation.

There are other ways too
You don't always have to get your ad published within the content of the newspaper. You also have the option to send the supplementary inserts along with the newspaper. It is true that people often discard the leaflets that come with the newspapers. However, if someone is looking for something that you offer, they will be attracted to your ad.

Motivated Entrepreneurs

Entrepreneurs are unique individuals that see something more in a product or service other than just its basic form. These individuals can see the unique qualities that can be shown to the world or they can create something out of nothing. These people have ideas that make others think, Wow! Although, how do they keep going? How do they find that motivation within themselves to get up every day, work those extremely long hours and strive for that moment of success with their idea? Motivation is crucial to any successful entrepreneur. It is the backbone to their drive and ambition to create an amazing service or product to share with their customers. Although, without the key component, self-motivation, to assist them to make it through and continue with their journey, there would be nothing to show for it.

Self-motivation has to be embedded in their thought process, emotions and actions. An entrepreneur knows what they are working towards daily. They keep the desire going for their idea with self-motivation and discipline. Entrepreneurs know where they want their end goal to be, or at least most of them do. Is this goal that they want to become millionaires or is it that they want to be the boss? Only the entrepreneurs themselves can decide that and strive as hard as they can for it. Entrepreneurs understand that there is no time to sit back and relax. This job will require everything they have, such as time, money, and all their efforts. As Niklas Zennstrom founder of Skype and Kazaa states, "If you want to be an entrepreneur, it's not a job, it's a lifestyle. It defines you. Forget about vacations, about going home at 6 pm - last thing at night you will send emails, first thing in the morning you'll read emails, and you wake up in the middle of the night. But it's hugely rewarding as you're fulfilling something for yourself" (Kabbage, paragraph 102). This is an excellent example of the fight within an entrepreneur to keep going no matter how tough things may get throughout their idea's journey.

An entrepreneur's motivation is the stronghold that keeps them moving forward and not giving up on their goals. Our brains want us to achieve success, and they also allow negativity with the thoughts of not achieving our goals. As Dustin Wax with Lifehack states in The Science Of Setting Goals "According to research of psychologists, neurologists and other scientists, setting a goal invests ourselves into the target as if we'd already accomplished it" (Wax, paragraph 2). This shows that an entrepreneur's goals are assisting in motivating his or her mind to continue striving toward his or her accomplishments. In conclusion, Motivation is key to making it. As Neil Patel states in his article The 7 Secrets Self-Motivated Entrepreneurs Know, "Self-motivation is one of the underlying forces that distinguish successful entrepreneurs from those who stagger from one neglected startup to another" (paragraph 27).

Entrepreneurs, Are You Looking to Find Your Opportunity?

Not every opportunity is your opportunity! This is important to accept because once you become opportunity prone, it becomes easy to keep finding them.

As a skilled opportunity seeker, one learns to search for fundamental changes and resultant needs and challenges that it throws open. Change being so fundamental keeps taking place constantly thereby giving rise to opportunities.

While one person utilizes the opportunity and creates a flourishing enterprise, thousands of others fail miserably while trying to tap into the same opportunity.

This leads me to believe that much before business modelling or planning, it is important for an entrepreneur to find opportunities that connect both personally and professionally.

The Tier 1 (Entrepreneur) Visa is for those wishing to immigrate to the UK and use their expertise to start, take-over or join one or more businesses based in the UK.

One of the more confusing aspects of applying for a Tier 1 (Entrepreneur) visa is understanding the funding requirements. Depending on the migrants particular circumstances there are different options.

Three main options for raising the required funds

If you are looking to move to the UK on the UK Entrepreneur visa, you have three choices for raising the required funds:

Cash savings
Venture capital or UK Entrepreneurial seed funding competitions endorsed by the UK Trade and Investment

Money from one or more UK Government Departments or devolved Government Departments in Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland

Cash: Family and Friends
You will need to have available 200,000 in cash savings. This can be raised by yourself or with the help of third parties. To prove that you have access to this money, you will need a letter from the institution holding the funds to confirm the money is available to you. The letter must:

Be an original
Be written on the organisation's official stationary/letterhead
Have been issued by an authorised official of that institution
Be under 3 months old
Confirm that the institution is regulated by an appropriate body
State your name
State your account number
Be dated
Confirm that the money is available

If the money is not in a Financial Conduct Authority or Prudential Regulation Authority fund (basically, a British financial institution), the letter must state that the funds can be transferred to the UK.

You will only need to raise 50,000 if you're raising the required funds for your Tier 1 (Entrepreneur) visa through any of these sources. To prove that you have access to these funds you will need to produce a recent letter from an accountant engaged by the venture capital firm who is a member of a recognised UK supervisory body confirming the amount of money has been granted to you or to the business which you are a director of, and so funds for which you have access to.

UK Government Departments

You will only need to raise 50,000 if you're raising the required funds for your UK Entrepreneur visa. To prove that you have access to these funds you will need to produce a recent letter from an authorised official from a UK government department confirming the amount of money has been granted to you for carrying your business activities.

The Advantages of Having a Delux Electric Ice Crusher

Crushed ice is wonderful to serve in a variety of summer drinks such as cocktails, mocktails, and slush puppies. However, cocktails are in demand throughout the year and not only during the warmer months so bars are under more pressure to serve these drinks all the time. If you have blocks of ice it can be cumbersome and hard work to crush it by hand or with a manually operated machine. Perhaps you've considered crushing it manually for individual drinks because a large ice crushing machine will take up too much space in your bar or kitchen. There is a more convenient solution, namely the Delux Electric Ice Crusher.

The Delux Electric Ice Crusher is a small piece of catering equipment that takes up minimal space in a bar. It can be placed on a counter top as it measures only 200 x 230 x 300 millimetres and weighs a mere 5.6 kilograms. You could easily tuck it away in a corner to go to work on its own. However, do not underestimate its power due to its minor stature. This unit has a power output of 0.65 kilowatts and 230 volts which is able to crush up to 10 kilograms of ice in an hour. This may sound like a noisy business but surprisingly it is manufactured to work quietly and quickly. It works at a speedy pace and provides consistent power which is necessary during peak hours. Bars will certainly benefit from this speedy operation during happy hour.

The Delux Electric Ice Crusher is an elegantly designed unit with an adjustable height. It is manufactured with heavy duty steel along with an aluminium base and support that can handle crushing a lot of ice. You add the contents into the top funnel and allow the catering equipment to do its work. It comes with an optional mini 800 millilitre tapered mixing bowl that catches the crushed ice. The tapered edges allow you to easily pour out the contents into a mixing bowl or glass which minimises unnecessary spills.

The Deluxe Electric Ice Crusher is a mighty little piece of catering equipment that is ideal for establishments such as bars and restaurants that serve chilled drinks, cocktails and mocktails throughout the year. It is a reliable machine that will provide you with hours of use and consistent output. This unit will take the pressure off you so that you can focus on other managing activities that require your attention.

First Time At A Dine-In Movie Theater? Here Are 5 Tips To Make the Night Awesome

The new, cool thing happening in the movie theater world is the offering of gourmet food options (even craft beer brewed on site) to the movie-going public. Take a bit of time to let that sink in. You mind may only allow you to utter broken words like, "Served food in movie theater" because you're so excited. Excitement-induced grammatical mistakes aside, the movie experience has changed for the best.

As with anything new, though, you might not be sure how to approach this new, chic stylization of the celluloid experience. If you've never been to a dine-in theater, you can be a little overwhelmed. After all, you've been used to overly salty pop-corn, chalky candy, and soda. Don't be afraid, though, and take comfort in the following tips. You can use the following five 'hacks' to help make your first trip to a dine-in theater near you more enjoyable:

1. Remember you have options - Again, because dine-in theaters are becoming more available, it means you have options. Consumers win out because they have choices, and as such, competition creates an atmosphere of excellence in order for businesses to succeed. Do some research and see what each theater has to offer in order to find one that fits you best. You can even look up menus ahead of time.

2. Choose a movie you think you'll like - This seems easy enough, but in a dine-in theater setting, you're in a setting that makes it harder to just get up and leave. Depending on how payment is handled for your meal, you may have to stick around for the whole movie. Not only is payment a possible issue, but you don't want to interfere with everyone else's experience.

3. Get to the theater a little early - Getting to the theater a little earlier makes it easier to read your menu and find a good spot for watching the movie. Think of it as insurance to having a good time. It's also good decorum because it keeps you from being a nuisance to others.

4. Avoid watching a movie when it opens - Seeing a movie when it comes out can be a blast, but keep in mind that a lot more people may be just as excited to see the same film. The larger crowd can be a deal breaker.

5. Keep your order simple - Even though dine-in theaters aim to please everyone and make for an over-the-top movie experience, you want to test the waters by starting simple. It may be a good litmus test for how well they can handle the little things.

If you happen to be a newly minted "served food in movie theater" patron (again, let that sink in), hang on to these hacks, and you'll be sure to start your dine-in theater experience on a positive note.

What Do We Need To Know About IT Insourcing?

A number of studies highlighted a gradual increase in the number of enterprises switching from IT outsourcing to IT insourcing. Many large companies have already started terminating their IT outsourcing contracts, and bringing specific IT operations back in-house. In simple words, IT insourcing can be defined as the business practices of performing certain IT functions by deploying in-house staff and resources, instead of delegating the functions to an outside company. Also, the business practice differs from IT outsourcing in the category of cost, resources, control over processes, and location of the IT operations.

Understanding Important Aspects of IT Insourcing

Cost
Many companies outsource their software development and testing project to save money. They can develop and test the software by taking advantage of the existing workflow and employees of the outsourcing partner. But a business has to develop new work processes, build the required infrastructure, and deploy skilled employees to carry on its IT operations smoothly. Hence, the company has to invest extra time, effort and money to insource its IT operations successfully.

Resources
IT outsourcing enables enterprises to meet their IT requirements without using their own resources. But when a company switches from IT outsourcing to IT insourcing, it has to deploy its own resources. The company also need to explore ways to optimize resource utilization. Also, it has to increase the in-house resources to meet all requirements of the IT process or operation.

Location of IT Operations
When a company outsources its IT process the location of the operations shifts to the location of the outsourcing IT service provider. But when a company decides to insource the operations, it has to place the operations in its existing premises. Also, it needs to explore ways to place the IT operations in a nearby location to synchronize all its processes.

Control over IT Operations
When a company outsources its IT operations, it does not have any control over the operations and processes of the outsourcing project. It still needs to coordinate with the outsourcing partner to carry on the operations efficiently and smoothly. But IT insourcing enables enterprises to exercise full control over the IT process or operations. Many companies even opt for IT insourcing to avoid losing ownership and control.

Cloud Computing and Technologies
The cloud-based services and tools enable enterprises to switch from IT outsourcing to IT insourcing. A business can avail cloud technologies to carry on IT operations without building and maintaining physical infrastructure, and avail adequate resource on demand. Also, the cloud-based tools and services make various IT operations more efficient with reduced manual efforts. Many companies take advantage of cloud computing to insource their IT operations and avail benefits in terms of time, cost and quality.

Development and Utilization of Internal Talent
Many large companies have stated that IT outsourcing is affecting the in-house IT skills bases adversely. Also, outsourcing does not encourage the in-house software engineers to experiment and innovate. Hence, the IT outsourcing may impact a company's culture, productivity and profitability in the longer run. But a company can always insource its IT operations to leverage the skills of in-house employees fully and encourage innovation. It can further enhance the skills and productivity of in-house software developers through training.

Preserving Intellectual Property
Nowadays, each enterprise explores ways to beat competition by preserving its intellectual properties effectively. A business can easily preserve intellectual property by custom software application development through in-house software developers and engineers. Also, the enterprise can use the software more efficiently to convert website visitors into customers and get higher ROI in the longer run.

Avoid IT Outsourcing Scandals
A number of studies have highlighted a steady increase in IT outsourcing scandals and controversies. Hence, the enterprises must explore ways to save money by outsourcing the IT operations to the right company and avoid these outsourcing scandals. Many companies also bring their IT operations back in-house to avoid these outsourcing scandals and controversies.

However, each enterprise must consider several factors and address a number of challenges to insource its IT operations successfully. For instance, the business needs to calculate insourcing cost, assesses the strength of its in-house IT support and infrastructure, and decides the amount of time required to insource IT operations completely. The business also needs to make and implement a comprehensive strategy to switch from IT outsourcing to IT insourcing without affecting its IT operations and functions.

Fundamentals of Digital Signal Processing

To keep the levels constant you've done everything you can think of. You've tried fixing the amplifier, and placed speakers in strategic positions. However, you still couldn't reduce the eco. You can hear background noise and feedback. To combat these sound quality issues there is a simple solution - DSP.

We take a look at some of the fundamentals of Digital Signal Processing.

What is DSP?
Digital Signal Processors (DSP) take real-world signals like audio, video, voice, temperature, position or pressures that are digitized and then accurately manoeuvre them. It is designed for performing mathematical functions like subtract, add, divide and multiply very quickly.

How they work
Signals from real world sources are converted by Digital Signal Processing into digital data that can then be analyzed. The signals will be usually in analog form. Study is performed in digital form because when we reduce a signal to numbers its mechanism can be manipulated in more detail than when they are from real world sources.

The digital data can be converted into an analog signal with enhanced quality when the DSP has completed its work. A DSP can intensify frequencies, sort noise from a signal, and hold back others.

Types of Audio Signal Processors
Signal processors can be single- or multi-functional, digital or analog, or incorporated with other components in a sound system. Most were unconnected devices, but became multi-functional over time with digital signal processors integrating a wide range of functions at a fraction of the cost of individual processors.

The problem-solving features in DSPs today are Gain Control and Volume, Equalization, Filters, Compressors, Dynamics Processor, Expanders and Noise Gates, Limiters, Delay, Speech Leveller, Gated Automatic Mixers, Automatic Microphone Mixers, and Feedback Reducers.

Although you can find it everywhere it is an extremely refined chip technology. DSP chips are used in fax machines, sound cards, modems, high-capacity hard disks, cellular phones, and digital TVs. In 65% of the world's digital cellular phones, DSPs are used as the engine. This number will only increase with the increase in wireless applications. Digital signal processing is used in many fields including music processing, sonar, biomedicine, radar, speech, and seismology, communications and imaging.

What DSP Can Do
You need to consider some of the most common problems you face in sound reinforcement to determine whether DSP can help your sound system. The DSP tools can remedy many problems if you have reasonably good room acoustics. If you have poor tone quality by using graphic equalizer, a DSP tool, you can rectify the problem. Similarly, DSP tools like Downward Expander, Delay, Compressor, and Automatic Mixer can rectify problems like unwanted noise, frequency response problems, sound source too loud, and feedback, respectively.

What DSP Can't Do
Adding DSP to your system isn't an alternative for subsequent conventional sound support rules. For instance, audio processing will not prevent echo. DSP has no effect once sound energy is released by the loudspeaker. The problem will only become worse if you raise the level of the sound system.

If you've ever visited a website or done anything else online you have DSP to thank. If you are looking to establish your own specialized digital signal processing journals, please Visit JSPWN to get publish your scientific journals and get double-blind peer review mechanism to ensure the standards of your publications.

An Insider's Guide To Planning Your Cruise

Once you have handled the standard travel preparations, here are some less obvious items to pack and some valuable tips to assist you in cruising the seven seas.

Things To Pack

Bring Your Documentation - Have the right credentials, or you may get stuck on the ship at ports of call. Email yourself a digital copy of all travel documents and itinerary commitments for easy access and organisation.

Dress For The Occasion - Pack evening wear to attend formal dinners and adhere to nightly dress codes. Bring a light coat or sweater because cruise lines keep low indoor temperatures.

Consider Your Children's Trip - Bring a wearable baby carrier to stay mobile with your little one. Carry two-way radios to communicate with your family without using cell phones. Take sturdy clips to keep your child's towel from flying away on the windy deck.

Stay In Charge - Pack a power strip to charge multiple devices; most rooms have very few power outlets in the room. Get a mobile USB charger to power devices all day long.

Maximise Your Cabin Space - Pack magnetic hooks and magnets to hang various small items on the metal walls of the cabins. Include an over-the-door shoe hanger to use as an organiser. Bring a small collapsible cooler to keep beverages cold in your room and on port visits; most cabins don't have refrigerators.

Items Your Cabin Won't Have - An alarm clock won't be available in your cabin so bring one or use your smartphone. Bring clothes hangers to ensure you have enough. A nigh light to brighten your room. Pack a small air freshener for your cabin.

Things To Remember

Stay Healthy - Use motion sickness medications or acupressure bands to help prevent sea-sickness. Drink ginger ale and eat green apples, lemon slices or bland crackers to reduce motion sickness once it sets in. Check with your medical insurance provider to see what's covered and what's not while overseas. Wash your hands often! Viruses are often passed along from things you touch.

Avoid Fee And Hassles - Purchase an Express Boarding Pass to ensure immediate delivery of your luggage to your cabin; this can take several hours without one. Avoid ATM fees by depositing funds at the sip's casino games then immediately chasing out.

Leverage Technology - Use a language translation app to help communicate with the locals and negotiate a fair price for that must-have souvenir. Take a RFID wallet that prevents the scanning and stealing of your card numbers from your pocket.

Plan Your Trip - Visit the purser's office to obtain copies of the ship's menus so you can map out your daily dining desires. Plan your shore excursions well in advance by utilising the cruise line's website. Purchase travel insurance to protect your investment in case of emergencies, natural disasters or itinerary changes.

Five Activities to Help You Escape From Life

Everyone needs a break at times. The hustle and bustle of being a mother or father combined with work and constantly needing to be somewhere can take its toll on both the body and mind. When the mind does not get a break, it results in mental illness. When the body does not get a break, it gets worn down, the immune system grows weak and diseases like cancer start to develop.

Instead of letting the modern world destroy the body and mind, use these five activities to give it the break that it desperately needs.

Wild camp
Wild camp provides everyone with a break from the modern world. There are no noisy highways or tall buildings. Instead, wild camp is just a few good friends and the great outdoors. Families do not need to have experience with this to book an event.

Instead, experienced staff will help everyone that wants to participate in wild camp eat food that is cooked over a roaring fire, learn new and fun skills and they will guarantee that everyone gets the break that they need.

Surfing
Surfing is a fun way to get a workout (so it can double as getting a daily dose of cardio), and it's nice to get out and enjoy the sunlight. Picking up a new hobby or sport can help take anyone's mind off the day to day stress that never seems to stop.

Taking a class will help individuals make new friends, and learn a new skill that will take them away from busy cities.

Regular massage
Thai massage has proven to be effective in treating a wealth of both mental illnesses and physical illnesses. It encourages the brain to release the same endorphins that are released during exercise to improve a person's mood, and it can help the body get rid of harmful toxins that are responsible for disease and sickness.

The benefits of Thai massage don't stop there. This type of massage is often referred to as "yoga for the lazy" because it has the same relaxing, refreshing effect on the body as a session of yoga. The only difference is that during a Thai massage, the recipient does not have to move a muscle.

Meditation
Sometimes, getting away for a weekend for wild camp or taking an entire day to ride the waves is simply not possible. When a schedule is jam packed full of activities, the mind and body need to relax more than ever before. Make this happen by practicing a few easy to use meditation techniques daily.

Meditating daily will help improve an individual's mood, lessen the impact that stress has on the body and mind, improve mental clarity and even improve a person's coping skills. All of this can happen in just ten or thirty minutes a day.

It is recommended that individuals find a quiet spot to meditate, but sometimes the breathing exercises used in meditation can also work wonders in the middle of a traffic jam that is going to last for hours.

Finding the time to relax and get away from life is a necessity to living a long, healthy life. It gives the mind and body a break that they need, and allows them to repair themselves, preventing sickness, disease and allowing them to repair themselves.

When people do not get this break, they wind up sick, with mental illnesses and, eventually, they are burnt out. When this happens, they crash, unable to get out of bed. This can easily be prevented with a few days off for a wild camp or ten minutes a day spent meditating.

Cornish Wave remains unrivalled in the surfing lessen industry. This impressive school is nestled in Newquay, Cornwall, and is home to some of the most experienced surfing teachers. Lessons are available for individuals, families and groups.
They don't stop with surf lessons, though. Cornish Wave also offers one of a kind activities for sten and hag activities, coasteering, and an impressive wild camp experience. No matter what a person is looking for, if it has something to do with the coast, Cornish Wave can guarantee a memorable experience that everyone in the group will cherish. Review These Areas Before Selecting a Service Provider for Aviation Infrastructure and Management

Aviation is the transportation lifeline of a country and works as the economic cornerstone for many parties with vested interests. From airport sponsors and passengers to commercial carriers, investors and third parties like visitors and airport authorities, aviation impacts a range of stakeholders. If you are considering investments in aviation infrastructure or need the management services of a Fixed Base Operator, there are many key things to consider.

Thankfully, there are professional services providers and management companies that deal with all aspects of consulting, planning, operations management, investment management, and development in aviation. Here are the elements that must be reviewed in detail.

Start With Portfolio:
As mentioned, there are multiple parties in this industry, and their interests depend on their nature and level of their involvement in operations and infrastructure. Look for companies that have a diversified portfolio with the critical services in place. Typically, most aviation infrastructure investors are interested in proven management & operations, consulting & advisory and infrastructure & development. If you are considering direct infrastructure investment, you need a company that's experienced with operations and can offer a review of the feasibility and expected returns analysis of an equity investment.

Check Their Work:
Experience is the key in this large sector, and you should seek out a service provider who has the special skills you are seeking. Depending on your interests, you can utilize their experience in the industry to your benefit. For example, they can guide you on cost containment programs based upon industry norms, or they may improve financial reporting and governance structures that are critically important for direct investment in infrastructure. Experience is also paramount for institutional investors, who often look to combine deep aviation industry experience with entrepreneurial innovation based on agility, financial control and technological improvements, and benefits of scale. Look for companies that have decades of operational experience in aviation infrastructure across varying economic cycles.

Seek Tailored Solutions:
No matter whether it is about aviation investment in airport FBO, MRO or ACM operations, make sure to find solutions that are tailored to your business. The management company you select should be able to satisfy you that they have though through every facet of the endeavor. If you have any concerns related to specific areas of your investment, make sure to address these issues promptly with your service provider. Aviation infrastructure and operations are among some of the highest growth segments at this time for infrastructure investors, with potentially higher returns than the risk profile of similar assets. Advisory and consulting resources can provide insight into efficient aviation infrastructure development.

Talking to experienced aviation companies can help the decision making process, but make sure to thoroughly diligence their current work as well as their prior track record, which will demonstrate their experience and success. Many firms have handled projects in different continents and countries, and this level of global experience may be important for evaluating many aspects related to your interest and investment.

I am a marketing representative of http://www.aviationinfrastructure.com. Global Aviation Infrastructure LLC provides management and advisory services for corporations, airport sponsors, private equity firms and financial institutions.

Five Sins Of Cruising

While going on a cruise is definitely an angelic experience, we all know that sometimes when we're on vacation we let some our normal inhibitions go, which can lead to some "sinful" behavior. As they say, what happens at sea stays at sea. Don't worry though, a cruise is meant for you to loosen up and let go of your inhibitions. See how many of these "sins" sound familiar to you.

Sloth
If sloth is your favorite cruising sin, you will relish the chance to lie by the pool all day waiting for the waiters to come around with those fun and flirty drinks, enjoy a full body massage plus a mani and pedi, or just lounge on your balcony all day with room service stopping by for breakfast, lunch or dinner. And if you tire of being a sloth, plenty of onboard activities and adventure await you.

Gltuttony
Cruising is your chance to indulge in some of the world's best cuisine, from the chocolate buffet and extensive wine menu to the steakhouse's perfectly cooked New York strip and the sushi bar serving fresh tuna rolls. It's all so good you might forget to leave room for desert! Consider it fuel for more fun.

Greed
Don't feel guilty about chasing your every desire on a cruise, that's what the ships are designed for You might find James Bond impersonators hanging out at the casino betting it all on red at the roulette wheel or holding a hot hand in a Texas Hold 'Em tournament You might also notice cruisers with hoards of duty-free goods. Hey, where else can you get such a great deal on that diamond bracelet you've been dreaming of?

Wrath
It's really hard to get this angry when cruising, but there are some situations that might stir up a little wrath. Remember our dear friend at the casino? Watch out when they bet it all on red and it lands on black. And if you spend too much time lounging on your deck chair you could feel the wrath of the sun, which can leave you with a fierce and fiery sunburn. Good thing cruise ships offer many fun distractions so it's impossible to stay angry long.

Envy
When cruising it's easy to become envious if you peer into a better suite, fail to reserve a spot on the sold-out shore excursion or hear how friends were treated like royalty on their last luxury cruise. Beat the envy by contacting your cruise line and they will get you exactly what your friends had, and more.

See how easy it is to go for a world cruise. If you want to learn more about how to get cheap cruise holiday then visit our website. We have links to many great reservation services all across the globe.

Advertising Is Art: Jean-Paul Goude

In the world of advertising there have been some geniuses who have been able to turn the promotion business into one of the great art forms of the twentieth century. Hereby I am forever grateful for the sheer brilliance of mastermind Jean-Paul Goude.

Goude was born in 1940 in Paris and has since then shared his creative power on various levels including graphic design, photography and advertising. He has created campaigns and illustrations for brands such as Perrier, Citron and Kodak, which are known all over the world. Many of his campaigns included his former muse, the model and performer Grace Jones.

Out of the wide range of superb advertisements, it was rather difficult to make a selection, but eventually I opted for one of his first television advertisements, a TV spot for Lee Cooper Jeans, made in 1983. The following is an attempt to describe the first part of the advert, which is not that easy as it is rather hectic.

At first, the TV spot shows a black girl waving at the audience, while hopping on a huge yellow hopper. Then it shows a boy, you can only see his back though, hopping on a red hopper. They're both wearing Lee Cooper Jeans. Then a scene is showed in which several youngsters (I managed to count twenty of them) are all hopping together on big yellow, blue, green, red and white hoppers. They're all wearing Lee Cooper Jeans. Out of a sudden the black girl appears again, hopping her yellow hopper, and they zoom in on the hopper, when suddenly they show a different set, in which a half-naked white woman is bending over and a black girl is slapping her behind, as if she was beating a drum. Afterwards, the black girl starts painting her white buttocks with blue paint, and suddenly she is wearing Lee Cooper Jeans.

This is an example of an advert that is actually serving its purpose, because Goude is trying to show us that the jeans look so good on you when you wear them that it's as if they're made for you. He also succeeded in turning the then somewhat dull image of Lee Cooper into a very trendy brand. What I like so much about this TV spot is the fact that it makes me happy while watching it. I just feel like hopping next to them while wearing those Lee Cooper Jeans! And isn't that exactly the point? Isn't that the goal of advertisement? That, after watching it, the presented product is the first thing you want to buy?

I will leave the rest of the ad to you, as it is hopeless to describe it, it's just so terribly chaotic! But I think that the TV spot is an absolute masterpiece.

3 Most Time Consuming Mistakes In Reporting To Funders

For 20+ years I have been helping Nonprofits and government agencies do reporting to funders (donors, foundations, government grant providers) and partners. I have seen a lot of processes and lack of processes for doing reporting. I am usually hired to help with a report because an organization doesn't have the staff and/or time, is at the end of their frustration rope or realizes report development is not their strong suit. But even if an organization hires me, they still have to supply information. Following are the 3 mistakes that, from my experience, cause the most frustration and waste of time.

Not tracking as you go. Waiting until the last minute to compile numbers puts you at risk for errors and omissions. Because this usually means you have to recreate and guestimate, it is likely you will over or underestimate your statistics. Overestimating could cause you to be non-compliant in your grant or to ruin your reputation with a funder - either could cause loss of funds. Underestimating robs you of an opportunity to show the magnitude of your efforts, which could also negatively impact future funding. In addition to increasing the likelihood of mistakes, it also takes a chunk of time, when tracking as you go takes small amounts of time along the progress path of your project.

Not understanding what the report recipient wants.  Speaking of time... this mistake can take a lot of time. If you have to redo reports or backtrack and gather information you didn't know you needed, it will take a lot more time than it would have taken in the beginning to understand what the report recipient wants. A good way to look at it is, "pay me now, or pay me more later." Also, if you don't do reporting according to specification you risk losing the funding or partner or not getting future funding or necessary partners. Keep in mind that you are using someone else's money, so their rules trump everything. One other important point. It is actually rude and disrespectful to not attempt to understand the needs of people you report to (Board Members, Funders, Donors, Partners or other departments) and disrespect will not win friends and funders.

Putting it off until the last minute.  Reporting usually takes more time than you think it will, no matter when you do it - just the nature of the beast. So, likely if you put report preparation off until the last minute, you will not allocate enough time. This will result in one or more of the following: an incomplete report, a poor quality report, working on the weekend and/or at night, other things suffering (including personal life) and, last but certainly not least, frustration. Often I am hired by an organization or agency to do or help with a report because someone has put it off. This works well for me because I make money. But it's not the best situation for the organization that hires me. Sometimes it is best to hire an outside person to develop a report because: it is outside your ability or time scope, it will help to have an outside view or the funder requires it. But having to pay someone just because you put it off is not prudent use of funds.

During my time of helping organizations with reporting I have learned that the 2 most effective tools for avoiding these report development mistakes are:

Include reporting in your plan (strategic, tactical, budget, etc.). Plan the who, what, when, where and how of you will do reporting. Include the cost in your budget whether it is for an outside source or for the time to be spent by you and/or your staff.

Put commitments for the activities related to reporting on the calendar. This should include tracking, collecting, analyzing, writing, etc. If you put it on the calendar you are giving it the importance of meetings, fund raisers, vacations and other vital things. And once you put it on the calendar do not take it off; you can move it, but don't remove it.

How GPS Tracking Technology Helps Mine Fleet Managers

How GPS Tracking Technology Helps Mine Fleet Managers
By Georgia Campbell

As a mine fleet manager, you are responsible for your fleet's operations, in hazardous locations, with strict safety requirements.

There are many checks and balances that are vital for the smooth operation of a mining site which a mine fleet manager must address.

However, being in control of a fleet that spreads across a vast amount of territory makes things more than difficult.

Not to mention the day to day tasks of knowing where vehicles and drivers are, at all times. Being constantly aware of available driving hours and ensuring drivers don't exceed these, and keeping on top of the maintenance's due on all mining vehicle and equipment.

Not to fear, GPS tracking technology can provide you with a complete fleet management solution that addresses these challenges.

Help your mine perform at its best by integrating the tools to improve production and reduce wasted time.

What can you track on a mining site?

GPS Tracking can be installed in company cars, fitters' utilities, heavy equipment, crew buses, trucks, courier vans and stationary at depots.

Having these assets tracked provides readily available information on vehicle location and mileage for maintenance, usage and productivity purposes.

1. Fleet Visibility
Fleet visibility is an essential element in mining operations. Using Satellite Tracking you can see where your vehicle is even in remote areas with no phone coverage.

For example, vehicles are colour coded by their status i.e. green moving, blue stopped, red speeding.

Benefits of fleet visibility for a mine site:

Having complete visibility of your fleet you can improve your haul cycle and see when your vehicles enter an exclusion, these tools can give you real-time awareness and control of your mining equipment.

2. Reduce fuel consumption and emissions
GPS tracking technology can measure the exact fuel burnt of all your vehicles and equipment resulting in a more efficient driving style.

Managers are alerted to inefficient driver behaviour such as excessive idle, RPM and harsh braking, and can provide live feedback to drivers on their performance, to reduce fuel burn and overall carbon footprint

3. Increase asset utilisation
GPS tracking technology gives you a range of utilisation reports with important information such errors, odometer readings, the exact times your vehicles have spent loaded vs unloaded, waiting at a queue, stopped, refuelling and cycle times.

With this important information, you can compare overall utilisation rates in your fleet and dispatch with confidence to optimise your operations.

Integrating GPS tracking technology into your mining operations will give you a complete solution for your fleet management.

The Importance of the Prayer Of Jabez

Scriptures and holy books have many examples of prayers, that teach us to believe in the existence of God and count on him. The prayer of Jabez is one such prayer.

The prayer of Jabez is mentioned in the Bible. But his approach is completely different from how we make requests to God. The prayer is divided into the following four parts:

Part I: In the first part, Jabez asks God to bless him. He recognizes that only God has the power to bless, and he is the only one who has the divine powers. He acknowledged who God is and believed that God will make his life beautiful. This says that we should always pray from the heart and have faith in the power of blessings.

Part II: In the second part, Jabez asked God to multiply his territory. Now, this can be seen in two ways. Some say that Jabez asked God to enlarge his land. While others say that he asked God to increase his share of spiritual territory. He wanted to get closer to God. When you pray, ask God to give you the capability of serving more, rather than asking for more wealth.

Part III: In the third part, he asked God to stay with him. Jabez wanted God to hold his hand and guide him in the right direction. With God by his side, he wanted to feel protected and secured. When we pray, we often ask for materialistic benefits, or an unfavorable situation to get over, but we should rather ask for God's hand that will turn all bad into goods.

Part IV: In the last part of his prayer, Jabez asked God to keep him from harm and free him from the pain. The meaning of the name Jabez is "born with pain", and we all are born with the pain and sufferings written in or life kitty. Jabez wanted to be free of this, this way we can also request God to free us from the entanglements that create sufferings.

The Prayer of Jabez encourages Christians to understand the power of praying. One should follow the Jabez prayer among other prayers of the Bible to create his own way of praying. Remember, there are no set rules or spells to enchant in order to get wishes fulfilled from God. He is not a genie who takes orders; he is a part of you that listens to the heartfelt and passionate wishes.

Prayer is a great advantage that God has given to his children. Through prayers, we can surrender to God and all his wills for our lives. To that end, may we all learn to pray with the modesty, faith, and hope of blessing Jabez exhibited.

Knowing Parking Details When Travelling Saves Time

Summer is not very far off and that is why planning your summer is essential. Especially, if you have plans to go on a cruise or are planning to travel across the country in your car. Visiting famous cities is a lovely option and makes a great vacation. Of course, the complexity of the parking situation in the huge cities is baffling. This is the only thing that bothers visitors. However, here is a brief description of the options of parking available:

To begin with, street parking is available in many busy areas, but you must look for less crowded areas. The side-streets may have more space, yet do not forget to read the signs. This is because, though it may appear as street parking, it may definitely not mean it is meant for parking.

Ensure you do not park your car in a yellow curb or in the area that has that day reserved for street cleaning. Generally, one side of the street is cleaned and not both on a given day. Also watch out for the sign that informs you not to park. Most importantly, citizens having local plates must post a City Sticker. This is essential or else, you will end up at some point with a bright orange ticket on your car.

Another parking facility is the permit parking. Be watchful for the signs informing who can part and the times. There are areas not permitting 24 hours parking and some impose restrictions during the day. If there are events across the city, this will affect the parking hours. So, you must be aware of the parking hours. There are permit zones and it is mandatory to qualify for a given area to get a permit. In fact, permit holders may purchase temporary parking passes to use even for their visitors.

The metered parking is often available. Reading fine prints on the meter is a must. There may be restrictions similar to the street parking such as metered during specific hours or 2 hour parking, etc.

Commercial garages and lots are available, but are expensive. Read the small prints on the signs prior to entry, because an "early bird special" is the $6 parking fee and is available at specified times. Otherwise, you may be shelling out huge money for few hours of parking. It is best to understand the details of parking areas, before you start for a particular area.

The best part is that you can rent a space in a lot that is closer to your residence or even in a garage. The fees for the parking may range between $50 to nearly $200. If you are looking for a dedicated parking space, you may find it in your nearby building, if your building lacks the attached parking facility. Parking can be understood by going through the popular classified sites. Another option to know about the parking availability is through an agent who really has proper network and access to multiple listing services to identify the parking spaces available.

Looking for Chicago parking garage is a very serious affair. You can find Cheap parking Chicago only by looking at specific locations.

Safety Management Series - Audit Fatigue? How Did We Get Here?

The Phone Call

The phone rang that morning with certain urgency in its ring. I know that sounds silly but I just knew that there was something out of the ordinary about this phone call.

"Al, its Bob, Bob Granite... the CEO" (the names have been changed to protect the innocent). This was interesting indeed. The CEO of the company I worked for had never called me before. I had certainly met him and I had on several occasions made presentations to him and his executive team but I'd never been called before.

"Yes Bob, what can I do for you?" I asked, knowing full well that Bob would be very clear and direct on how I could help him.

"Well Al, I've got in my calendar that I have a meeting with an independent OH&S Auditor. I'm sure this is the same fellow that I met a few months ago."

"Yes Bob, that would be the auditor we hired to do a preparation audit for us so we'd know where our short comings were in our OHS Program. This meeting is to do the official audit so we can qualify for our workers' compensation rebate." I said confidently.

"Oh I see." said Bob. "Well can you take this meeting with the auditor for me? An urgent conflict has just come up in my schedule."

"Sorry Bob, I wish I could but the auditor has to interview you personally. It's about demonstrating the level of senior management commitment to our safety efforts." I was about to continue when Bob interrupted, "I see. Well what's the auditor going to be asking me?"

"The same questions he asked you last time you met with him. He uses a standard audit instrument and he has to ask you the standard questions" I said knowingly.

"I see" said Bob in a somewhat frustrated tone. "And what are the answers I'm to tell the auditor so we get full marks?" he asked.

"Same ones you told him last time. We actually scored very well on the practice audit in the Management Commitment section." I said

"I see" said Bob with a bit of a sigh. "So can you send a copy of the questions and answers you sent me before... so we can again pass this section of the audit?"

"Of course Bob... I'm emailing them to you as we speak."

"Thanks Al. I'll let you know how it goes."

"You're welcome Bob" I said even though I was sure he had already hung up his end of the call.

How Did We Get Here?

As I moved the cursor over the send button on the newly created email to Bob, the embarrassment I felt was almost overwhelming. This conversation I have just had with a very powerful executive of one of the largest companies in Canada made me feel very silly.

"How did we get here?" I asked myself rhetorically.

I knew the answer. We have, over time, very effectively formalized this game we call safety programming to a fine art of giving rehearsed responses to formalized questions. That's not making it safe for the people who work here! We've offered rewards for the "appearance" of safety and the accomplishment of measurements that can be manipulated.

I could hear Dan Petersen's voice telling me yet again that "Paper doesn't save people from getting injured, people save people." My level of embarrassment increased. It was at that moment I realized that I needed to start doing something very different or I would continue to be part of this silly game we've created and actually be part of the problem and not the solution.

Appearance Based Safety
Over at least the past two decades the safety management movement has accomplished the institutionalization of the idea that auditing safety programs against one of many standards we've developed is the secret to solving our safety and health challenges. In fact, as you're reading this there is yet another group devising yet another list of things for companies to do to "make it safe". Many of the popular standards are readily available to all who would like to use these "blueprints" for safety. Unfortunately if there's anything to be learned by auditing our safety efforts in most cases we've learned what we can from the first one or two times we've used that standard. Auditing over and over again provides little insight into how to mature your safety culture.

These audits all require the creation of the OHS Binder of information (see my previous article on the OHS Binder) that becomes the central figure in most audit instruments. Asking questions about the "Binder" annually seems to be a bit counterproductive. Asking management each year if they are still committed to safety also seems a bit repetitious. A popular audit used by many thousands of companies gives significant points for "safety tours" of their senior manager but fails to ask if those visits are being effective and if so, why?

The hard truth is that passing an audit does not guarantee that your safety efforts are actually making it safe. "Appearance Based Safety" gives us all the appearance that there's an effective safety program when in fact we know that very unsafe corporations can pass most of the popular audits. The secret to safety isn't in the paper... it's in what people think and do. So after you've successfully audited your processes to a fatigue level then consider using other measurements of human effort to accomplish your goals of making your workplace safe and healthy.

Perception Survey
There is one "sure thing" that we know "for sure" in safety management. Given the opportunity to be honest and anonymous, your employees can tell you what the safety culture is. By employees I mean ALL employees of your organization from the CEO to the people on the production line. They know where the strengths and weaknesses are if you take the time to ask. There are some great resources available to help you through developing a perception survey that will fit your culture. Be careful here though and don't fall into the same trap that has caught us with audits. Survey's won't be better than a standard audit if they ask questions that someone else feels your culture should be like.

Measure Safety Activities
There is no better way to motivate humans to do things than to measure those things and provide positive consequences to the "doers". There is no mystery that measurement motivates. If I look at my watch every time someone walks into a meeting late and I mention that being late is being measured, I have no doubt that time keeping will improve with a group of humans who believe consequences will happen if they do the specific activity that is being measured. The power of this is well established. So pick those things that really make it safer and start to measure the performance of those activities.

Remember that it is our activities that create our safety culture. Paper and documentation are only activators or in some cases consequences for those behaviours. Be the person who does the activity that actually makes it safe. Asking a company for the 7th time if they have a "CEO signed safety policy" is a waste of both of your time and resources.

Audits that look at things and processes will get you safer, but repeating the same audit and never raising the bar to a higher level of excellence dooms your safety culture to mediocrity. Strive for excellence... it's highly motivating!
