Slow Down - You Move Too Fast, Gotta Make It Last!

As a college student I not only had tuition bills but a family to support. So a part time/full time job was necessary. An opportunity came at a local hospital, and I was hired on as part of the housekeeping staff. My job, in this 200+ bed facility, was to pick up all the trash.

This was supposed to be an eight hour job, but within two days I had it down to just five. As a result it gave me time to do some study, and be available for those moments of need outside the norm.

The other workers, many also from the college, discovering how quickly my task was completed, immediately began chiding me to slow down, or I might cause the company to review the length of time it took to do their jobs. Really?

Fast forward to our current situation with the White House and the obstructionist party's determination to slow down swearing in the cabinet selections of President Trump. This simply slows down the efforts to make changes until Cabinet heads are in place.

So what is the objective of the Deplorable Democrats? Do anything to stymie President Trump and his agenda. Now why would they do that? Weren't they elected to represent the public that they swore to represent? Is this sort of action what they were elected for? This resistance seems to be on thin ice as it relates to sedition. The obstruction of the Democrats in Congress might thinly be called hearings, when in fact it seems more like a witch hunt. Gross distortions of behaviors, presumed intentions, looking to see if there is dirt under the fingernails, even though if there was it wouldn't change the outcome for a powerless Democratic bunch of congressional senators.

The only obvious intent of these senators is delay, and attempting to sensationalize, exaggerate, embarrass, ridicule, and belittle by any means possible, whether truthful or not, as in the case of Sen. Sessions as it related to a video transcript from Coretta King claiming Sessions unfit. Then another more recent video was unearthed where he was praised for his assistance. It has been titled, " Video of Coretta Scott King Thanking Jeff Sessions for Rosa Parks Library Crushes Elizabeth Warren Racial Stunt!" Yeah, that's what I'm talkin' about!

Bottom line, this is not what these Democratic Senators were elected to office to do. Included in their Oath of Office are these words. "That I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God." While it may not be spelled out in those words, I'm certain nowhere in the job description does it say a deliberate effort to slow down legislative process is part of that description. However, maybe that's all they are really capable of doing.

If a delaying tactic is all they can accomplish, it gives cause to wonder what work they do, other than move their collective mouths for 30 hours non-stop. And that's not a filibuster? Then I guess it's a mini-filibuster. What of a positive nature have they accomplished for the public? Nothing, other than expense.

This writer was never involved in the Obama administration to have been witness to any similar tactics used by Republican's, but there are references made to some efforts like these. However, not during the initial point of approving cabinet members or the beginning of his first term in office.

Comments have been made that these actions are demanded by their "base," which seems a little vague as to who that might be. Sounds like a simple cop out to justify those actions, or more appropriately lack thereof. Maybe Executive Orders are all the President will get accomplished, since it apparently takes 60 votes to get anything approved, and the Republican party only has 52. Executive Orders don't require even one of their votes!

So go ahead you 47 obstacles, slow down and watch things like the ACA get undone, illegals get deported, and just maybe the judicial branches get stripped of powers they have usurped. Sit around on your hands and watch, and stew in your juices.
