Create A TED Talk Platform For Your Own Company

I have been a very big fan of TED Talks which is a free online platform where industry experts speak about various topics for a time-frame of 15 minutes. I feel that it is pointless and cost-inefficient to have world-class communication infrastructure in a country but yet a big lack of complementary world-class content. In the same way, I am confident that any company can also create a unique platform that follows the model of TED talks. If you are a business owner, you can consider opening this platform to external experts as invited guests or your senior staff.
Here are more tips to get you on the way to creating your own corporate TED talk platform.

Audience

You have to decide who are your target audience. Are they potential customers who want to find out more about your expertise or perhaps job-seekers who may want to discover if they want to be part of your organisation.

Topics

Once you determine your audience, you can then brain-storm about the topics that may interest them and make them want to decide to visit your website. Ensure that your topics do not focus too closely to your own products or services or your viewers may feel that this platform is just another advertising tool. Keep the topics fresh and concise.

Consistency

Ensure that the topics do not go against your company's values and goals. The reason is that these talks will be viewed from your website and you do not want to create confusion. Also, you can disable anonymous feedback below the recording because you want to invite viewers to email directly to your senior staff so there can be faster and clearer response. You want to portray to all viewers that their comments are treated with absolute importance and urgency.

Duration

Have a discussion with potential speakers about the duration of each talk. They must be comfortable with this as they have to drive home the message as clearly as they can.

Speakers

Do not just get speakers from academia. It will be a refreshing change to get speakers with different perspectives so that the viewers can feel challenged and mentally-stimulated.

Professionalism

It is essential to set aside a comfortable budget to ensure that the recordings are made as professional as possible. The viewers must be able to understand the topic and the points must be presented in a concise and mature manner. It is preferable that the viewers must also follow the presentation by viewing slides online and the speaker must not be too animatic and block these notes. You may also want to get the talks transcribed so that viewers can re-read the talks.

Media

You may also decide, with the permission of all speakers, to syndicate these recordings to broadcasting stations and even online on-demand platforms like Netflix to provide greater reach. This will further solidify your corporate branding and even open up new markets too.

Events-planning

You can decide to organise a conference give your local supporters free admission. Other interested parties can also be able to appreciate these talks live by paying a nominal fee. This event can be held in a proper arena and can garner more positive media coverage too.

Publishing

In the medium term, you can also decide to publish a compilation of these talks as a further collaboration with all your invited speakers. It will be a definite win-win as all parties are able to provide each other with positive exposure.
