In our comparison with the Maruti Celerio and the Hyundai Grand i10, the Tiago emerged as a clear winner. Now, the most common question? Is it reliable? Is it worth considering? We have just completed a month with our Tiago. We share a detailed analysis of how the first month was. Read further.
Tata Tiago Quality
If we talk about quality in this segment, the Tiago is far superior to most of its competition. The look and feel of the dashboard is top notch. We couldn't find too many issues in the Tiago and now we are nitpicking. In fact, this feels better than the Bolt and the Zest too. On the other hand, there are some plastic bits, which aren't at par with the dashboard. The power window switches are a carry forward from the Vista family. The instrument cluster cover, is an add-on on the Zest's instrument binnacle. This could have been avoided.
Tata Tiago Space
We made five people sit in the car and took it for a long distance. They were happy and comfortable. No issues. This ticks the space box for us. In terms of knee room, rear passengers were comfortable despite the small size. The head rests for the front row is adjustable, this is a feature missing on the competition. The rear seats have decent thigh support. This is another plus point for the Tiago.
Tata Tiago Engine
At the moment, we are driving the diesel engine. This is a lot more refined than the petrol engine to our surprise. The petrol engine has some amount of vibrations, however it is the diesel that is extremely quiet. The power is more than sufficient for daily usage. We have been driving it majorly in the traffic lanes in Mumbai, so far it has been extremely comfortable. Whats more? The Tiago doesn't needs those too often gear shifts even in city. This makes it a lot more easy and convenient to drive in the city.
Tata Tiago long term reliability
So far, we haven't had any issues. If the vehicle is unreliable, it starts showing some signs. So far, there have been none. We will keep you updated with more updates on the Tiago, when we add our new report to this story itself.
