Cottage cheese is certainly good for you, although perhaps not, if you are trying to steer clear of salt. However, you can always buy low-sodium cottage cheese.
Why is it good for you? Well, it contains selenium, phosphorus, calcium, iron, potassium, and zinc. It also has small amounts of iron and As for vitamins, it contains riboflavin (vitamin B2), vitamin A, vitamin B12, vitamin B-5, (pantothenic acid) vitamin B6 as well as all the amino acids your body requires to function well.
The body needs selenium, because it promotes a healthy heart. It is also believed to lower the risk of cancer and thyroid problems. It increases the blood flow and it can fight inflammation. It also combats the ageing process, giving you a healthy complexion with few wrinkles.
Phosphorous is necessary for healthy bones and teeth. It also improves our mental processes. Apart from these benefits, phosphorous also helps the body detox by flushing out toxins.
Calcium.is vital for bones and zinc helps prevent hair loss. Zinc is found in mushrooms,, spinach, kidney beans, flax, pumpkin and watermelon seeds, as well as in shrimps, prawns and oysters.
Herbivores will be please to learn that they can get their zinc from beef, They don't have to live on Lima beans, peanuts and garlic, other foods that contain a fair amount of zinc.
Potassium is necessary for our bodily organs to function well. It can be found in foods such as avocado, salmon,and sweet potato, to name but a few.

Vitamin A is important for children's growth and development, and adults need it to help vision, reproduction and to boost the immune system.
The B complex vitamins keep the body in peak condition, giving us energy. These vitamins are found in vegetables, nuts, pulses and legumes, eggs and a whole host of other foods.
Cottage cheese is also good for people who want to lose weight, as a typical serving, a cup of low-fat cottage, only contains 163 calories and 2.3 grams of fat. Because it is a type of cheese and contains milk, it will provide the body with 28 grams of protein.
If you think that cottage cheese is too bland, add some fresh pineapple, or apple, celery or dried fruit (apricots are good). You can add nuts, raisins or your favourite healthy snack and it will enhance the flavour.
