A Public Official's Rhetoric: 5 Considerations
One of the greatest and challenges, to an electorate making the best choices, for selecting potential leaders, and, subsequent, public officials, is paying enough attention, or having the skills and expertise, to read, between the lines, and recognize, when the rhetoric, is merely politics, and empty promises, versus, when someone, is providing true leadership, and is prepared, to truly, make a difference, for the better! One of these challenges, is, we continuously hear, candidates, speak about the need, for change, and while changes are usually, needed and necessary, there's a big difference, between changes, for the better, and merely, providing distractions, and making empty promises. With that in mind, this article will attempt to briefly examine, and discuss, 5 considerations.
1. Inspire and motivate: Every candidate tries to inspire and motivate voters, but, there's often, a somewhat, fine - line, between empty rhetoric, and providing well - considered, focused, solutions, etc. While promises and attempting to be popular, often attracts potential voters, what the people, really need, is someone, who is ready, willing, and able, to create the finest, relevant, sustainable solutions, rather than merely, promising, to do so!
2. Personal agenda: We need public officials, who prioritize serving others, and the common good, rather than any personal agenda, and/ or self - interest! We often elect individuals, who seek to be popular, and seem to tell people, they will be the instrument of change, but, nearly always, witness, these individuals, fail to do so, in a relevant, meaningful, well - considered way. It's easy to blame and complain, but, more challenging, to conceive and perceive of, create, develop, introduce, get a meeting - of - the - minds, and make a true difference, for the better!
3. Word's count: Whether they should or not, the reality is, a prominent public official's words matter, either for better or worse! In the past year, we have seen this, because, President Donald Trump, has relied on using social media, so often, and generating, a oft - confusing message! When a leader of the free world, does so, citizens, as well as the rest of the world, react, and, when someone is considered to tell many lies/ mis - statements, others tend to stop believing, often becoming fearful!
4. Why would anyone trust your message? In our political system, effective leadership, is often based on creating a bond, where one's word, is considered a pledge or pact, and others, believe, they can trust, another! When a public official has been rated, as telling an average of 6 lies/ mis - statements, per day, as this President has been, why would anyone be willing to believe anything, he says>
5. Transform rhetoric, to viable solutions: Wake up, America, and demand, elected officials, serve you, and the nation's interests, rather than merely, their personal agenda, and/ or self - interest! Overlook any promises, which are presented, without a well - considered, plan!
Too many officials are merely, empty suits! Don't we need, and deserve better?
