Short Story: The Story Between The Bus Stop and the Rain

The rain under the full moon still continued to pour down on the city heavily. The temperature of the cold air bites. Under the eaves of the bus stop, Vi squeezed her sweater trying to dispel the cold air far away. The time number on the device screen is again glanced at. It's already 8:10 now.

It's not too late yet, but the road in front of the bus stop is already deserted. Maybe it's because no one wants to linger under this rain. The tomboyish girl snorted irritably.

Raul was already 10 minutes late from their appointment time at the place. Without any news and can't be contacted at all. Vi decided to wait another 10 minutes. The last city bus heading in the direction of his house would pass around that time. If Raul hadn't appeared yet, he chose to go home and threw himself on the mattress until the morning.

On a whim he stretched out his hand under the rain falling from the roof of the bus stop. Suddenly his smile was squeezed out. His memory ran a long way. His first meeting with Raul also happened when it rained craze like this.

At that time, the two of them had just finished making transactions at one of the banks. The heavy rain left them "trapped" in the ATM area on the bank's terrace. The initial greeting from Raul happened because he saw the ATM card lying on the floor. Raul picked up an ATM card and handed it to Vi thinking it was his own card. But apparently it's not. Another customer who just entered the ATM center dropped it. But that simple story successfully started their friendship.

Korean soap operas and English leagues. It was these two things that strengthened their friendship. Wow, they can chat for hours without being stopped if the topic is those two things. Another one, both of whom are avocado fans. So if they are hanging out, their drink menu is definitely not far from the presence of avocados, whether it is juiced, made into iced fruit or mixed with coffee.

Five minutes passed. Vi tried to call back Raul's number, but it still remained out of reach. It's not uncommon for Raul to miss appointment time. There is always news in advance if he is going to be late.

This bus stop on Rose street has become a silent witness to their meeting after meeting. Vi and Raul's offices are far apart. One is at the northern end of the city and the other is at the southern end. So if you want to meet them, they really like to make appointments at the bus stop in the middle of this city. Each of them took a bus according to the major of their respective offices and met them at this bus stop.

After that it depends on the agreement. Meet to just take a walk, watch the latest movies or chat ngalor ngidul at a coffee shop.

Eight minutes passed.

What's wrong with Raul, huh? Don't-don't he why? inner Vi.

He suddenly remembered still keeping the number of Andra, Raul's boarding housemate. He also rushed to take out the gadget from the sweater pocket and made a call to Andra's number.

"Loh, isn't Raul with you, Vi?" retorted Andra from the other side after Vi said hello and asked Raul's whereabouts.

"I plan to meet, Dra. But from the time I was waiting, it hasn't appeared yet. The IP is also dead," Vi half-shouted to defeat the sound of the rain.

"Oh, that's it. So how about it? I help check with friends or how about it, Vi?"

"Ng... maybe you don't have to do it first Dra. Who knows his HP is low batt. I'll wait a minute."

"Okay, that's it. If there's anything on the phone, yes."

"Sipp, Dra. Bye..."

They ended the conversation. Vi started to get agitated but still tried to keep his head away from the strange thoughts.

It's been 10 minutes. From the rain curtain that was still tight, Vi could see the highlight of the city bus lights from a distance. The bus is about to arrive. Vi began to be confused.

Another subtle rumbling sound of the machine sounded approaching. A dark red city car stopped in front of the bus stop. The back door opened and from inside a guy in a dark blue shirt ran through the rain towards the stop. There is a bouquet of flowers in his right hand.

"Raul!" exclaimed Vi.

The car that Raul was riding in again moved forward and disappeared among the raindrops.

"Duh, Vi, I'm so sorry. You're not okay?" said Raul as he uncovered the rainwater that stayed on his hair and shoulders.

"Yee, I should be the one who asked me so. Which cellphone are you?"

Raul smiled bitterly as he took out a gadget from his trouser pocket.

"Totally dead, Vi. It didn't have time to recharge just now, where didn't bring the power bank anymore."

"Where have you been?" asked Vi fiercely.

"I was looking for a flower shop that was still open, that's why it was a long time ago. This is for you..."

Vi's nose is deflated. She blushed because in front of her, Raul thrust a bouquet of pink Camelia flowers.

"What is this for? Tumben?" Vi accepted the flower and tried to hide her feelings.

Raul smiled again. "We've been friends... eight months. I want more than that, Vi. I love you. I love you. I'm afraid you don't want to open your heart to a local guy like me anymore, because you are too affectionate with Lee Min Ho,"

Vi also chuckled.

"You don't want to be my girlfriend?" continued Raul again.

Vi was silent for a moment. But the happy blush on his face had already given Raul a crystal-clear answer. "yes, I want to, Raul. I love you too," Vi said softly. The two then dissolved into an intimate and warm embrace. Even the coldness of the air will not be able to drive away the warmth.

There was a sound of wind brakes from the city bus that stopped in front of the bus stop. They let go of the hug.

"Come home to me," Vi said spoiledly.

"Loh, don't you eat?"

"Ng... so. But the location moved to the house. I want to cook something special for you. Tomboys like this I can also cook."

Raul stared in disbelief.

"Seriously, Vi? Uh, baby. Seriously you can cook? Ayuk if so. What do you want to cook?"

Vi took Raul's hand and then the two rushed into the bus.

"Instant noodles.... Hehe,"

Raul covered his face in a funny style.

"But it's cooked with love."

"Yes.. yes." The two are now sitting sweetly. Vi leaned his head against Raul's sturdy arms.

"Eh, mama papa you have?"

"Yes. Oh yes, papa, I'm looking for you to compete for chess again. Only I always say you are busy. I think I'm still curious, because the last game was lost."

The two then chuffed.

"Still?" said Raul. "I'll tell you later. The future will win by myself from the future in-laws,"

Vi laughed again while intimately pinching Raul's stomach.

The bus carrying them also disappeared in the increasingly heavy rain. One sweet story has begun. The rain that has brought them together, is it also the rain that will unite?
